Chicken Coop with Wheels

Chicken Coop with Wheels

Carriage £60.00

Cost: £980.00

Quantity:

This Chicken Coop comprises a  Hen house with bespoke metal wheels which are hand made. This hen house is based on our sturdy Free-standing Hen house design . It has a very chunky framework under the chicken house, which is mortise and tennoned jointed. This framework carries the metal wheels which are handmade by a  blacksmith  friend of ours, in his Derbyshire forge. The wheels add to the charm of the hen house and coop. They are so beautifully made. Although the chicken house wheels are brand new, they do look as though they are antique with a gorgeous rustic finish. On the opposite legs of the house, we have added specially forged metal shoes that raise the hen house up off the ground, thus keeping the hen house out of any mud, ideal for those muddy paddocks or fields. The house is also available without the metal wheels, we will deduct the cost accordingly.

The hen house in the photograph is 4 ft x 4 ft square. We were delighted to be asked to build it for some very special, free-range meat birds, hence there is no nesting box, just perches inside.

A nesting box can be added for a further £60.00

The chicken house comes complete with sliding tray or sliding floor. Its possible to slide out the floor whilst the chickens are still perched inside the house, be careful not to get your chickens in a flap, it may take a few days to get your chickens used to this, however its handy as you can crack on in the mornings with your hen house cleaning regime, without waiting for your hens to exit the hen house. There is also a large side access door to the chicken house, this enables you to look inside the house to inspect hens , also the slide out tray removes completely, enabling you to step right inside the hen house for spring cleaning. The removable rack of perches can also be removed via the large side  door as these will require cleaning off and scrubbing down routinely. There is also space on the  inside and under the poultry house for placing or hanging feeders and drinkers.

The attached chicken run is built in our unique Framebow Style. Its rounded lines compliment the square lines of the chicken house, whilst retaining the rustic charm adding a touch of elegance to the paddock.

The chicken enclosure unclips so you can move the house easily. The chicken house comes complete with two sliding popholes, free-range poultry can often benefit from the advantage of an enclosure from time to time, whether it be for routine handling of poultry or whether you need to keep poultry confined whilst your away on holiday and so forth.

The ladder leading up the the chicken house is also provided with the poultry house. The pop-hole or sliding chicken house door is a very good size, allowing for very large breeds of poultry . A device known as the Automatic Pop-hole or automatic chicken house door can also be added to our hen houses upon request. Lovely piece of kit for those gadget lovers, especially if your often returning home from work after dark.

Ventilation is a very important aspect of the poultry house, stale warm air will exit via the ridge and fresh air is drawn up through the eaves. Its important to ensure that this feature is correctly designed to keep the elements out and the birds fit and healthy. Any ventilation gaps have a mesh covering so as to protect vermin such as mice entering the chicken house. Any gaps relating to the sliding tray are also very minimal , so as to avoid any predators and vermin entering the safety of the poultry house. We have many different coops for chickens within our product range, so please call if you cant find what you require.

Different size options available, please enquire for quote.

Our hen houses are made using pressure treated timber, although this gives you 20 years protection against rot, we do advise you to look after your new hen coop by keeping it clean and maintaining its shine by using an organic aftercare product. This is clear, really easy and safe to apply once or twice yearly and can be supplied by ourselves.
